Question about getting a straight edge on shingles with a cordless saw

Been using a regular utility knife for cutting shingles for years and it works fine for straight runs but I needed to cut a lot of angles for a big roof in Phoenix last month. Tried one of those cordless circular saws with a hook blade and it cut through three bundles in under 20 minutes without tearing the edges. Anyone else run into issues with dust getting into the blade guard or did I just get a bad model?

Hold up, you cut through three bundles in under 20 minutes with a cordless saw? That's crazy fast compared to a utility knife, I'd be worried about burning through blades that quick. Maybe it's just me but dust getting into the blade guard sounds like a design flaw, not something you should just accept on a new tool.
