Paid $200 for a handyman to fix a leak, ended up with a bigger water bill
Last month I had a drip under the kitchen sink that I figured was a quick gasket swap. Called a guy from a flyer, he quoted me $200, said he replaced the whole compression fitting. Two weeks later the water bill jumped by $60 and the cabinet base felt damp. I pulled the drawer out and the new fitting was hand tight, not even a wrench mark on it. Tightened it myself in five minutes and the leak stopped. He wouldn't answer my follow up call, of course. Has anyone else had luck with small plumbing fixes going sideways from a so called pro? I'm tempted to just buy a basic pipe wrench and learn the rest from YouTube.
