My garage door decided to quit at 6 AM on a Tuesday

I'm standing there with my coffee, hitting the remote, and nothing happens. Just a sad little click sound from the motor. Then I try the wall button and the whole thing starts shaking like it's having a fit. Turns out a spring snapped clean in half. Had to call a repair guy who charged me $320 to fix it. Has anyone else had a garage door just give up at the worst possible time?

$320 for a spring doesn't seem that crazy, maybe it was just getting old.

$320 for a spring replacement sounds steep but honestly not the worst I've heard. My neighbor paid $400 last year for a same-day emergency fix on a Saturday. Did the guy include the labor for that wall button issue too since you mentioned it was shaking like crazy before the spring broke?
