I tried air drying my clothes on a rack in January and got a surprise
I got tired of my electric bill spiking from the dryer so I bought a cheap drying rack from Target for 12 bucks. Set it up in my spare room and hung my jeans and shirts on it last week. They took almost 3 days to dry because the house is cold and damp this time of year. Learned that you really need good airflow or a dehumidifier for it to work in winter. Has anyone else tried this and found a better setup for cold months?

Oh man, the bathroom fan idea sounds smart but you might wanna be careful there. Running it overnight can actually burn out the motor on those little fans since they're not made to run that long.

My drying rack setup is in my bathroom now with the exhaust fan running for a few hours after I shower. I hang the clothes on the rack and leave the bathroom fan on low overnight, costs barely anything and my jeans are dry by morning. I also stopped trying to dry thick stuff like towels or hoodies on the rack during winter, those go in the dryer for 20 minutes to get the heavy moisture out then I finish them on the rack. That little trick saved me from the 3 day wait you had.

Putting the rack in the smallest room in the house with a fan pointed right at it cut drying time in half for me. A cheap box fan from the hardware store moving air across the clothes makes a huge difference when the heat is off. Just crack the door a bit so the moisture has somewhere to escape.
