Finally compared two route planning apps for our road trip

I spent two hours mapping a 9 day trip through the Smokies with Google Maps and then tried Waze. Waze saved us 45 minutes of driving time on day one alone because it rerouted around construction Google didn't even flag. Has anyone else found Waze that much better for long trips or is it just a fluke?

My buddy Dave tried Waze on a drive to Nashville and it routed him straight through a cow pasture.

Wait, did he live to tell the tale? That sounds exactly like what happened to my cousin last summer. @adam_thomas, your buddy's story is nothing compared to this - my cousin was trying to get to a wedding in rural Virginia and Waze sent him down a dirt road that just ended at a creek. He had to back up a quarter mile with thorns scraping the whole side of his car. I swear that app thinks we're all driving Jeeps with a winch. The worst part is the cows just stared at him like he was the idiot, which he kind of was for trusting it.
