Chose between fixing my 2009 Corolla for $1,400 or buying a $6,000 used Civic, and I picked wrong
My Corolla needed a new transmission at 181,000 miles and the shop quoted me $1,400, while a buddy was selling a 2012 Civic with 120,000 miles for $6,000. I went with the repair because it was cheaper upfront, but the Corolla nickel and dimed me for another $2,100 in the next 8 months before I finally dumped it. Has anyone else been burned by the cheap fix over the bigger upfront cost, or is it usually the other way around?
