Buffet brunch or sit-down 40th birthday? I picked wrong

For my 40th last month in Austin, I had to choose between a $45 all-you-can-eat brunch buffet or a fixed-price sit-down dinner at a small bistro. I went buffet because my buddy swore the crab legs were endless, but they ran out at 11:30 and the line for pancakes took 25 minutes. Has anyone else picked the wrong birthday meal format and ended up regretting it?

Wait, you said the buffet was $45 but crab legs ran out at 11:30, that sounds more like a breakfast spot than a brunch spot, most places swap to lunch by noon so you kinda hit the wrong window. Still, 25 minutes for pancakes is brutal, that's on the restaurant for not having a better system.
