A stranger at a Denver bus stop asked me one question about my career and I still think about it
I was waiting for the 15 bus in Denver back in March when an older guy in a Broncos cap asked what I did for work, and when I said I was "figuring it out" he just nodded and said "everybody is, nobody's done." I laughed it off at the time, but that line hit me again two days later when I turned down a job I would have taken out of fear. He didn't know me, didn't owe me anything, just said one plain thing and got on his bus. Why do the offhand comments from total strangers stick harder than advice from people who actually know us?
