Vent: My kid's teacher told me my bedtime reading habit was 'too slow'
My 8 year old came home with a note from her teacher, Mrs. Alvarez, saying we should read faster at night so we get through more books, like 2 a week instead of dragging one out for 3 weeks. I was kind of ticked at first because I thought we were bonding, you know, me doing the voices and her asking why the fox was so sneaky. But then I thought about it and realized my daughter was losing interest around page 30, she just wanted the pictures and to bounce around, not follow every single word. So I changed our routine to shorter picture books and letting her flip ahead, and honestly it's been way better. Last week we finished 4 books from the library's new shelf, which felt like a win. Any other parents get feedback that made you rethink how you read to your kid, even if the suggestion stung?

Trust the teacher's nudge but make it your own. Slowing down can be a trap, but so is forcing a kid to sit still. You found the middle ground where she actually loves reading again, and that's the real win.
