That week I found a first edition of a book at a garage sale for $2
Honestly, I almost didn't stop at this sale in my neighborhood last Saturday. An old lady was selling a bunch of random stuff and I spotted a beat-up copy of a book I vaguely recognized. Turned out it was a first edition of a John Steinbeck novel, worth around $400 according to a bookshop I visited. What made it stand out was how someone had underlined passages in pencil that made the story hit totally different. Has anyone else found something crazy cheap at a garage sale or thrift store?

Bro my cousin found a signed copy of a Tom Clancy book at Goodwill for like $3 once. Turned out the dude who donated it was some old military guy who'd met Clancy at a signing and just forgot about it. Wild what people just toss away.

Oh man, I saw something on the news recently about people finding crazy stuff at thrift stores... a guy in Ohio found a first edition of "The Hunt for Red October" with a personal note from Clancy tucked inside. @oscar390 your cousin's story reminds me of that. It's wild how these things just end up in a bin because someone's cleaning out a closet. Makes you wonder what else is out there sitting on a shelf somewhere, you know?
