Spent $45 on a simple pocket notebook at a shop in Portland and it fixed my whole research mess
I was drowning in scattered notes for a local history project last month, jumping between my phone, random scraps, and three different apps. Then I walked into a little stationery store in Portland and grabbed a $45 hardcover dotted notebook. It sounded dumb at first, but each page has a date and a source line, so I stopped losing citations. I filled 60 pages in two weeks, and I can flip to any book or article in seconds. Compared to the $12 app subscription I canceled, this thing actually works. I still keep a digital backup, but the paper is where the real tracking happens. Has anyone else found that a cheap tool beats a fancy system for keeping sources straight? I would love to hear what you use for citation tracking that does not cost a lot.
