PSA: Your local library might have a seed lending program
I was at the public library in Springfield last week picking up a hold and noticed a whole display by the checkout desk with packets of seeds. Turns out they let you check out up to 10 seed packets per season to grow in your garden, no cost. You just bring back seeds from the plants at the end of the year if you can. Has anyone else found their library doing something unexpected like this?

Our library in Portland does the same thing. I was so glad to find out about it because I have been trying to save money on gardening this year. The seed packets are all donated by local gardeners and a couple of the big seed companies. It is a nice way to try varieties you would not normally buy. Just make sure to bring back some seeds at the end of the season so the program keeps going.

Does the program accept seeds from store-bought produce, like @beth559 mentioned about bringing back seeds?
