My citation manager nuked 80 sources mid-thesis and I almost cried at the library

So I'm finishing up my poli sci paper due Friday and my reference tool randomly deleted half my bibliography, like 80 sources just gone. I was sitting in the third floor study cubicle at the city library and this popup said 'sync error' and poof. I spent 3 hours digging through the autosave files and ended up rebuilding everything from my search history. Stupid me never exported a backup. Anyone else got burned by a glitchy citation app or do you all still use index cards like my grandma suggests?
