Bought a $50 guide on identifying edible mushrooms

Ended up in the ER after eating something I was 'sure' was safe. The book had bad pictures and no real local info for my area. Anyone know a better source that actually covers the Pacific Northwest?.

Have you checked out the Pacific Northwest Key Council's website though? They have free keys and local info that's way more detailed than any book I've seen. Their guide on false morels alone would have saved you that ER trip.
