Warning about that dig site near Eugene from last month

I was helping out on a small excavation outside Eugene about 3 weeks ago. We found what looked like a fire pit from the early 1900s, so the lead guy said to call it a day and mark it for later. But 2 days after I left, he went back alone and dug deeper without any screening. He pulled out what he thought was a tool handle but it turned out to be a human femur from a much older layer, maybe 2,000 years old. Now the whole site is shut down by the state because he disturbed a burial without proper protocol. I heard he might lose his permit over this. Has anyone else seen a site get ruined because someone got impatient and dug too fast?

Just a heads up, femurs aren't usually mistaken for tool handles since they're way more curved.
