Thought that bone flute from Hohle Fels was overhyped until I saw the replica last month
I used to think the 40,000 year old vulture bone flute was just one of those finds people hype up because it is old. Then a museum in Austin had a playable copy from the Hohle Fels cave and the staff let me hold it for a minute. The holes sit at odd angles that only make sense if a hand wrapped around it, and that hit me harder than any photo ever did. Has anyone else changed their mind on a famous artifact after seeing a copy in person?
