Switching from TV docs to journal articles changed my weekend hikes

I stopped just watching archaeology shows and started reading full excavation reports online. Now I notice stuff like old stone piles or discolored soil when I'm out walking, lol. Does getting into the details make you spot more in your own area?

Wild! Got super into birding the same way. Used to just watch nature docs, then grabbed a field guide. Now I can't unsee the different warblers in the park, their little markings and how they move. Totally changes a boring walk.

Hey that's awesome, Fiona_King. Got to say though, warblers kind of ruined me, they're so tough to spot sometimes. I see where you're coming from, but in my area those little guys are only in the park for like two weeks in spring during migration. The rest of the year I'm just staring at sparrows and wishing. Still, once you start looking for those details you really can't turn it off.

Nah, I actually like the sparrows more. They're always around and you really get to know their little routines.
