Pro tip: label your bags before the museum basement eats them alive
I spent 6 hours in the basement of the Field Museum in Chicago digging through unlabeled boxes from a 1987 dig at Cahokia and only matched 3 of the 40 bags to the right paperwork. Half the tags had faded to blank, so now I photograph every bag and write the site code on it with a Sharpie before it goes down. Cost me a whole afternoon I could have spent cataloging points. Does anyone here have a labeling system that survives 20 years in a damp basement?
