My worst week digging was at a site in New Mexico last July
We had a crew of eight people working on a small pueblo site, hoping to find some pottery. For five straight days, we only found tiny, broken pieces of flint and animal bones. The heat was over 100 degrees every day, and our main water jug got a crack and leaked. On the last day, one of the students finally found a whole painted pot buried near a wall. It turned the whole week around. Has anyone else had a dig that started terrible but ended with one good find?

Wow, that's a brutal week but that pot find must've felt amazing.

Oh man, @elliot_shah, it was the ONLY good part of the whole mess. Felt like winning the lottery after losing my wallet. That old pot was basically my reward for not just giving up and lying on the floor. A tiny victory in a sea of pure chaos. Honestly, I would have traded it for a working hot water heater in a second.

Actually, Patricia said she would have traded the pot for a working hot water heater. So it sounds like the find was nice, but not quite amazing enough to fix a really bad week! More like a small bright spot in a bunch of real problems.
