I stopped trusting 'found in context' labels after the 2019 dig at a site near Tucson
A pot sherd got labeled 'ritual use' and got a big museum mention, but the trench notes showed it came from a backfill pile from a 1970s test pit. I now check the field journal before I believe any context claim in a paper. Has anyone else run into a find whose story fell apart once you saw the real dig notes?
