Went with a handsaw over a chainsaw for a tight crotch removal

Had a maple tree with a split crotch about 30 feet up, right over my neighbor's shed. Chainsaw felt too risky with the angle and the shed so close. Picked up a Silky Zubat handsaw and climbed up there instead. Took me about 45 minutes of careful cutting compared to maybe 10 with a chainsaw, but zero damage to anything below. The control was way better than I expected. Anyone else ever choose manual over power for a sketchy situation like that?

That 45 minutes of peace of mind was worth every second.

Oh man, that Silky Zubat is a beast for stuff like that! I've got one and it just glides through green wood. Question though - with a 30 foot climb and a 45 minute cut one-handed, how did you manage the weight and balance up there? I always feel like I'm fighting to keep from tipping sideways when I have to cut overhead with a long saw like that. Did you rig a tether or anything to keep the piece from binding as you got deeper?
