Vent: That old arborist at the feed store told me I was pruning my oak tree wrong and he was right

He said I was leaving too many stubs instead of cutting to the collar, and after 3 months of doing it his way my red oak stopped bleeding sap like crazy, has anyone else had a random old timer save them from bad habits?

Did he show you exactly where the collar was or did you have to figure it out on your own?
