I used to cut everything smooth to the trunk because it looked cleaner, but she called me back 8 months later and those flush cuts were rotting while the one stub I left had sealed over perfect. Anybody else learn the hard way that a ugly cut heals better than a pretty one?
Ugly cut heals better than a pretty one" is gonna be my new motto. I flush cut a whole row of cedars years back cause it looked neat, and every single one got rot. Guess my chainsaw had better taste than my brain.
