Took down a 60 foot oak in St. Paul, the top landed on the neighbor's shed anyway

Wrapped the lowering rope around the stem instead of the block by accident, that was my first mistake. The top cracked early and swung maybe 15 feet off the drop zone, clipped the shed corner and peeled back the roof edge. Owner was watching from the porch and just said 'well, that's one way to test the warranty.' I spent the next 4 hours patching the shingles and strapping the ridge, no real damage underneath. Charged the client for the tree work plus materials, but I ate the labor. Have any of you had a rigging point fail mid-cut and how did you explain it without losing the job?
