PSA: Don't trust that oak wilt treatment guarantee without a soil test first

I laughed off a certified arborist in Austin who insisted on a $350 soil analysis before treating my 40 year old live oak, but after he found compaction from the old driveway and switched to a different fungicide schedule, the tree bounced back in 6 months while my neighbor's untreated tree died, so has anyone else had a miracle turnaround after ruling out the obvious stuff first?
