Just learned the hard way about cheap climbing rope

Bought a 200-foot spool of generic rope for $75 last fall to save some cash. Used it for about six months on light pruning jobs, and it felt fine. Last week, it snapped clean through on a simple limb pull, dropping a big branch right on a client's patio table. The table was a total loss, and I'm out $500 for the replacement. Anyone have a good brand they trust that won't break the bank?

Man, that's brutal. Honestly, the real cost here isn't even the table. It's the fact that a client saw your gear fail. That kind of thing can wreck your reputation way faster than a broken rope. I'd be looking at that $500 table as a cheap lesson to never, ever cheap out on the thing literally keeping people safe.

Yeah the client seeing it is the real killer like you said. Good call wesley, that rep hit hurts way more than the cash.
