Had to choose between a new chipper and a stump grinder last month
Our crew budget only covered one big purchase, so I went with the chipper after seeing how much time we wasted hauling brush to the dump. Three jobs in and I'm second-guessing myself because every single client wants a stump ground down. Anyone else had to make that call and what did you pick?

A chipper is a nice tool to have but it seems like every homeowner these days looks at a stump and thinks it's an eyesore. People don't want to wait around for nature to take its course anymore, they want it gone right now.

Hold on, people pay money for a stump to stay? @morgan_lewis18 I guess you and I are in the same boat here. I can't even wrap my head around someone looking at a big ugly stump and thinking it adds character. My neighbor had one that took up a third of his front yard for two years and it just looked like a giant mushroom that forgot to die. Waiting for nature to take its course is just code for watching it get infested with ants and moss until you finally break down and rent a grinder.

Wait, people actually see stumps as... decorative?
