Dropped $400 on a used stump grinder and it's been both the best and worst buy of my career
Picked up a used Vermeer 252 about 8 months ago in Nashville for $400, figured even if it ran rough I'd make it back on two or three jobs. First month it chewed through six stumps without a hiccup and I was feeling like a genius. Then the belt tensioner blew out and the repair quote came back at $650, more than I paid for the whole machine. Part of me says I should've put that money toward a new one, other part says a new one runs $25k and this old girl still fires up every morning. So what's the play here, keep dumping money into old iron or finally finance something reliable?
