Dead oak fell on my new fence, but the crane plan saved the day

A big red oak came down during that storm last Thursday and took out 30 feet of my back fence in Austin. I had flagged it as brittle months back but the homeowner wanted to wait, so that was on me too. Got a 30 ton crane in yesterday to lift the trunk off the fence line before cutting it into firewood rounds. The crew and I spent 6 hours rigging slings and guiding the fall, and we only lost one picket to a sway. Have any of you dealt with a tree falling onto a structure that the client ignored a warning about, and how did you handle the liability talk after?
