DAE have a silver maple that bleeds sap like a faucet every March
Two springs back I pruned a big silver maple in my mom's yard in Akron, and sap ran out of the cuts for 9 days straight. This year I tried pruning in late fall instead, and nothing, not one drip. The tree still pushed fine growth this summer so I think the timing was the fix. My neighbor swears the sap flow means the tree is sick, but the leaves look great. Anyone else see this with silver maples, or does it happen with other species too?
