Crown reduction feedback that stuck with me

Last fall a homeowner in Portland told me I cut like a logger, not an arborist, right after I finished removing a 12 inch limb on their old oak. I was defensive at first, but they were right, I was chasing speed and leaving stubs that would rot. Now I walk around the tree and mark every cut with chalk before I start, has anyone else gotten that kind of blunt feedback that actually improved their work?
