Blew out a brand new chipper belt after just 4 hours on a job in Renton

Was feeding some decent sized alder limbs through my Vermeer 1800 last Tuesday and the belt snapped like it was nothing. Had to call the shop and wait 2 hours for a replacement. Turns out the tension was set wrong from the factory, wasted half a day. Anyone else had bad luck with new equipment straight from the dealer?

Used to think new equipment meant zero problems out of the box, but then I got a brand new Stihl chainsaw a few years back that wouldn't hold a tune for the first tank of gas. Took it back to the dealer twice before they finally swapped the carburetor under warranty. My buddy had the same issue with a new log splitter last fall - the hydraulic fitting was cross-threaded from the factory and it leaked all over his driveway. Pretty clear that "new from the factory" doesn't mean shit these days for quality control. You gotta go through everything yourself before you trust it.

Oh yeah, had the exact same thing with a new leaf blower. Had to rebuild the carb right off the lot.
