Shoutout to the landlord in Cleveland who roasted my rental application packet
Back in 2019 I was handing landlords a 3 page cover letter with my life story on it, and one guy in Cleveland actually read it and said straight up, this tells me nothing about whether you pay on time. That stung, but he was right, so I flipped the whole thing. Now page one is just numbers: income, rent I can cover, move in date, two past landlord numbers, and a line saying my credit score is 740. I pulled my own report for free and printed it so nobody has to take my word for it. Takes me about 20 minutes to put together and I have gotten a callback on 4 out of the last 5 spots I applied to, which never happened with the old essay version. Anyone else get called out by a landlord or agent and end up changing their approach because of it?
