My proof of income thing took 11 days when the lease office said it would take 2, so is this normal or was I just dumb about it?

When I applied for a place in Columbus back in March, the leasing office person told me my pay stubs and bank statements would clear the check in like 2 days. It took 11. The hold-up was that I get paid twice a month from two different jobs, and their system kept kicking back my file because the deposit amounts didn't match up right, so I had to keep calling and emailing and driving over there with printouts. So one side of this is that I should have brought a letter from both bosses from the start and saved myself the headache. The other side is that a leasing office should tell you upfront what actually slows things down instead of saying 2 days and going quiet for a week. I ended up almost losing the unit to somebody else and I had to put down $500 just to hold it. Was I supposed to know about the two income thing, or is it on them to spell it out? What did your paperwork actually take and what tripped it up?
