Got denied for a $1,450 place in Austin because my credit score was 3 points under their cutoff
I always figured the 620 credit cutoff most rental sites talk about was more of a guideline, but a leasing agent in Austin pulled up their actual screening sheet and showed me the hard line was 625 with zero wiggle room. She said they run about 40 apps a month and auto reject anything below it before a human even looks at the file. So my 622 tanked me on a place I could easily afford, and honestly I think that cutoff thing is way more rigid than people admit. Anyone had luck talking a landlord into a bigger deposit or a cosigner to get past a score cutoff like that?
