Vent: Took me 15 years to realize I was watching subbed anime with the wrong volume settings

I always kept my headphones cranked way up to catch every bit of dialogue, then last week a buddy pointed out that my audio mix was actually clipping and I was missing half the sound design. Now I tweak the EQ like a normal person and I can actually hear the background music and effects for once. Anyone else have a similar 'wait, I've been doing this wrong the whole time' moment with their setup?

Clipping can actually add a bit of warmth and punch to certain soundtracks though, I kind of get why some people prefer it. What kind of music/effects were you missing out on that you're picking up now?
