Update: watched 14 episodes of One Piece in one day and now I get why people warn you about the 'just one more' trap
So last Saturday I had nothing going on, decided to finally start One Piece after putting it off for like 2 years. Planned to watch maybe 3 episodes, ended up finishing 14 by midnight and I barely remember eating dinner. The pacing in the early arcs is way better than people online made it sound, like Baratie had me actually caring about a fish restaurant. How many episodes did it take you all to either get hooked or drop it? I'm at 14 and already worried about the 1000 plus ahead of me.
A buddy of mine did the exact same thing, swore he'd watch two episodes a night and then binged the whole East Blue saga over a long weekend. He said the moment that got him was when he realized he was thinking about the crew during work the next day. That's how you know it's got you, when it follows you out of the couch. @harris.vera is right that fighting it does nothing, so maybe just set a timer or something if you have stuff to do. 14 is nothing yet, you're still in the part where it's fun instead of a full time thing.
Episode 14 is about where I hit Arlong Park and that is the point where the show stops being a casual thing you watch and starts being a problem. I told myself I would stop at 20. Next thing I knew it was 3am and I was watching Sanji kick a guy through a wall. My advice is to just accept that your free time belongs to the show now, because fighting it does not work.
