The dubs changing lines actually matters way more than I thought

I was rewatching Attack on Titan with my buddy who only watches subs and he pointed out that the dub completely changes Erwin's speech tone in season 3, making it sound way more aggressive and less desperate. I checked the wiki afterward and sure enough, the sub has him pleading while the dub has him commanding. Has anyone else had a moment where reading the translation notes made you rethink a whole scene?
