That stat about how many anime get cancelled after one season surprised me
I was looking through some data on Anime Stats DB last night and saw that something like 40% of anime shows that premiere don't get a second season. I always figured it was maybe 1 in 4 or something, but 2 out of 5? That's brutal. Makes me appreciate when a studio actually commits to finishing a story. You guys ever look up numbers like that for your favorite shows?

Wait, 40%? That's way higher than I would have guessed too. I figured maybe a third at most, not almost half of them. Makes you wonder how many good stories we never got to see the end of.

Yeah I saw that 40% number too @harris.vera and it honestly made me feel a little better about my own life choices because at least I'm not getting cancelled after like 12 episodes. But seriously, I was looking at my list of favorite shows the other day and realized three of them ended on huge cliffhangers that will never get resolved. Like that one about the kid with the giant robot that turned out to be his dead mom or whatever, you know the one. It ran 13 episodes in 2017 and then poof, gone forever. At least when I fail it's just me disappointing myself in my room not an entire studio of animators.
