That guy at the con who argued Goku beats Saitama for 20 minutes

Ran into a dude at Anime Expo last year who kept insisting power scaling is objective and Goku wins every fight no debate. I told him different shows have different rules and he just walked away mid-sentence. Anyone else had a fan ruin a good chat by being too intense about it?

Told the guy flat out that comparing characters from different shows is like debating if a car is faster than a boat - they just work different, and that stopped him cold. Reminded him that Saitama's whole gag is being unbeatable in his world just like Goku is in his, so there's no point arguing. He actually nodded and changed the subject after that.

That "car vs boat" comparison is pretty spot on actually. I remember reading this one forum post where a guy broke it down like comparing apples to oranges but on a whole different level. People get so hung up on power levels they forget these characters are written with completely different rules. Saitama exists to make fun of that whole "who would win" thing to begin with. Goku's whole thing is about training and pushing limits. They're not even in the same kind of story so why bother arguing. Good on you for shutting that down before it turned into a 50 page thread.
