Rewatching subbed series with a notepad changed my whole fan-theory game

I used to just binge episodes and then argue with people online using whatever I half-remembered. That always backfired when someone brought up a scene from episode 4 that contradicted my point. About 3 months ago I started jotting down timestamps and small details like background signs or character reactions on a plain spiral notebook while I watch. Now I can cite exact moments from episode 7 of a 24 episode run without pausing to scroll back. It sounds like extra work but it actually makes the discussion threads way more fun because I catch foreshadowing I would've missed otherwise. My notebook from last week's rewatch of that mecha series has like 40 entries and half of them are about the coffee cup placements, which turned out to matter. Does anyone else keep notes during their rewatches or am I just turning into a detective for no reason?

Whoa, wait. Coffee cups? Like, actual coffee cups in the background are a clue? That's insane. I've rewatched that same mecha series twice and I just thought the animators were lazy with the background stuff. Now I gotta go back and check every single scene where someone's holding a mug. I swear if the whole plot twist was hidden in some foam art I'm gonna lose it. That's the kind of detail that makes you feel dumb for calling yourself a fan.
