Pro tip: check the actual run time before you start a new show

I was about to start a new series last night and looked up the episode count. Found out it has 148 episodes, which is way more than I thought. I saw this on a fan wiki while checking if the show had a good ending. The thing is, I only have time for maybe two shows a month with my work schedule. I was ready to dive in, thinking it was a normal 24 episode run. Now I'm not sure if I want to commit that much time to one story. Has anyone else been surprised by a show's length and decided to skip it because of that?

Honestly I got into One Piece years back when it already had like 800 episodes. Tbh that long run is the best part, you get so attached to the world and characters. I'd say just start it and see if you like the vibe.

I started at episode 400 and totally get what you mean, @janaf76.

The first 100 episodes of One Piece really set up that feeling of a huge world just waiting to be explored. Ngl, watching Luffy slowly gather his crew makes you feel like you're part of the journey from the ground up. By the time you hit the bigger story arcs, every victory and setback hits way harder because you've been there since the beginning. Honestly that slow build is why people get so obsessed, it's not just a show it's like a decade of hanging out with these characters.
