Noticed something odd about the dubbed subs at Anime Expo this year
I was at Anime Expo in LA last weekend and sat in on three different dub premiere panels. Every single one had the English subs mismatched with the dub dialogue, like off by a full line in some scenes. It really threw me off because I usually watch subbed anyway, but I wanted to give the dubs a fair shot. The weird part is the timing felt intentional, like they were synced to the Japanese script instead of the English track. Has anyone else caught this at conventions or on streaming lately? Is this a new industry standard or just sloppy QC on the event side?

Honestly, "synced to the Japanese script" sounds like a pretty big claim for a convention hiccup. Usually stuff like that is just a rushed final export or a monitor lag thing, not some secret industry shift. Feels like a lot of overthinking over a few subtitles.
