Just realized I've been watching anime on 2x speed for no reason

I was binging through like 4 episodes of this new mecha show and caught myself not remembering a single character name. My buddy asked what happened in episode 7 and I blanked completely. Turns out I had my player stuck on 2x speed from the last time I was rewatching a slow burner. All that time I thought I was being efficient, I was just missing everything. Anyone else accidentally burn through episodes without actually watching them?
