Wait, are we talking about the same show here? Because I gotta be honest, I think you're giving some random character way too much credit. Most of the time when people say a character is "the best written" it's just because they got a couple flashback episodes or a sad backstory. Like, I get it, you watched the show and now you think that character is super deep, but half the time they're just doing the same thing over and over again until the plot decides they need to change. I mean, look at how many characters in Naruto just talk about their pain and then never actually do anything different after that. It's like the show is telling you they're complex but they're really just stuck on one idea the whole time. So maybe you're right that you like them now, but "best written" is a big stretch when half their screen time is just them standing around looking sad.

Yeah, you're totally right about characters getting stuck on one thing. It's like the show writers think giving them one sad memory makes them deep, but they just repeat the same speech about it for fifty episodes. That's not character development, that's a broken record.
