Debate: Dub vs Sub during a bad anime week last March

I was sick for a whole week last March and binged two shows one dubbed one subbed. The dub let me knit while watching but the sub felt way more emotional and real. Which side do you land on when you're stuck on the couch for days?

honestly i think people get way too worked up over this whole dub vs sub thing. like it's just a week of bad tv, not a life or death decision. i've watched dubs that were perfectly fine and subs that were hot garbage (looking at you, that one anime with the weirdly stilted translation). if you're sick and want to knit, just watch the dub and move on. the emotional impact thing feels like something we tell ourselves to feel superior about reading subtitles. i mean sure, sometimes the voice acting is better in the original, but sometimes it's not and we just pretend it is because that's the "correct" opinion.

Oh gosh, hold on a second. You said you binged one dubbed and one subbed, but you only really argued for one of them. I think you meant to say you watched the dub to let you knit, but the sub felt more emotional. That makes more sense with your point.
