Back in 2019 at a small con in Sacramento, an older fan asked me why I hated the ending of my favorite show and then calmly walked me through every thematic setup from episode 2 that I had completely missed.

Have any of you had a stranger change your whole opinion on a show just by pointing out one small detail you overlooked?

Oh man, I actually kinda hate when people do that though. Like, sure they might be right about some thematic stuff, but it feels so condescending when someone acts like they "discovered" the real meaning and you just didn't get it. Maybe it's just me but I think your first gut reaction matters more than someone explaining why you should've liked it.
