Back in 2010, I'd argue about anime in the YouTube comments like it was my job
I used to spend hours every week fighting with strangers over which 'Big Three' show was best, writing these long, angry paragraphs. Around 2015, I realized I was just yelling into a void and getting mad over nothing. Now, I stick to a couple smaller Discord servers where people actually want to talk about themes and animation, not just win an argument. The change happened because I got tired of the same old fights and wanted to actually enjoy the hobby again. Has anyone else moved from public forums to smaller groups to keep their sanity?

My last attempt to discuss One Piece's pacing got three replies calling me a fake fan. The discourse there feels less like talking and more like dodging bullets. I just gave up and went back to my niche Discord servers.

What if those fans have a point though? Sometimes complaining about pacing just means you don't get what the story is trying to do. Maybe those three replies were from people who are just tired of hearing the same old complaints. Big forums are for everyone, not just quiet chats. If you can't handle some pushback, sticking to small servers is probably the right call.
