Spent 6 months cleaning my turntable needles with the wrong brush
Bought one of those cheap carbon fiber brushes off Amazon for like $8 and thought I was doing great. Last week my buddy Dave comes over and sees me using it before dropping the needle. He just laughs and pulls out his own brush. Shows me the bristles are all bent and frayed on mine. Said I've been dragging dirt across the grooves instead of lifting it off. Checked my record after and saw micro scratches everywhere. Now I gotta figure out if a $40 AudioQuest brush is actually worth it or if there's something in between. Anyone else get tricked by those cheap brushes?

That thing about the microfiber cloth for dust - are you just wiping it dry or using some kind of solution on it? Because I tried that once and felt like I was just smearing stuff around.

The real hack is just getting a zerostat gun for static and using a microfiber cloth for dust. Saves you from buying into the brush hype altogether. Your buddy Dave sounds like he's just gatekeeping with that $40 talk.
