Rewiring a 1974 receiver fixed the hum, but now I miss the noise?

Three years ago I picked up a beat-up Kenwood KR-4070 at a garage sale in Tacoma for $35, and last week I finally replaced all the old caps after reading a guide online. It sounds crystal clear now, but the faint 60Hz hum used to feel like a heartbeat while I read, and silence feels strangely empty. Does anyone else find that repairing analog gear removes a bit of its soul, or is it just me?

Totally get that. Sometimes the quirks are what make old gear feel like it's actually yours.

The hum was the heartbeat, now it’s just a stereo.
